There are still many glamourous and fashionable lace-up gowns being worn, and if one happens to be yours, be sure you have ‘learnt the ropes’ (pun intended!) One of the biggest frustrations I’ve seen for a bride as she puts on her dress, is the sudden realization that no one knows how to quickly and efficiently tie the lace-up portion. The salon where you purchase your gown should be able to show you and your mother or maid-of-honour, how it’s best done.

Here’s a unique and beautiful idea: spice up your veil with some funky feathers and jewels to add some flair to your hair.

I love purple! It’s one of those colours that really gives punch to accessories and decorations on a wedding day!

Stephanie and David didn’t want their guests to wait around between the ceremony and reception while they had photos taken – they wanted to get the party started! We saved the best for last, and did most of their portraits the day after their wedding. It was great because David already had the tux, and they were relaxed after the wedding day.

In the past year, I’d say this is the most unique wedding band that I had seen a bride have. I thought it was absolutely gorgeous!

There are a lot of amazing gowns available, no doubt about it. One designer that is fairly accessible in Alberta bridal salons is Maggie Sottero. The reason I bring up these dresses is that I can honestly say that every bride I’ve ever seen wearing one of these gowns, has had it fit them beautifully. For that reason, I’d highly recommend you at least taking a look at this designer.

Not exactly a white dress kind of girl? Want to stand out? Don’t feel the need to conform – it’s your day, and you should let your unique personality shine through!
Jodi chose a super hot blue dress that looked fabulous and truly reflected her fun loving personality. They both looked amazing, and as an added bonus, they were comfortable, enabling us to have a really fun photo session and a fantastic day!

Sometimes for the photographer, getting from the initial capture of a wedding day image, to the finished artwork, is an interesting process. In this case, a long story on paper, happened in a wink of an eye in my head: Andrea’s wedding day colours and theme were inspired by the little blue Tiffany boxes that her engagement ring and wedding band came in. The store Tiffanys reminded me of the movie ‘Breakfast at Tiffanys’. Which reminded me of the star Audrey Hepburn. Which reminded me of a popular piece of art featuring a black and white ‘outline’ of Audrey. Which inspired the final portrait of Andrea.

Our bride & groom had a deep love for the outdoors, and the mountains, and wanted that reflected in their choice of wedding bands. They ended up deciding that custom rings was the way to go and had these bands created exclusively for them, in Canmore, Alberta.
So, you are dying to have those super dramatic photos of you with a train behind you during the ceremony, but aren’t too keen about having it dragging meters behind you all day in the heat… Why not go for a smaller train and longer veil?? This is a combination we don’t see too often but it really turned out quite nice. Totally makes for awesome photos too – you can see more by clicking the photo to the left. ( ;
This super smart bride was able to have the veil for some of the day and a super awesome hairpin for the rest of the day. Either way, she looked fantastic and she got the best of both looks: modern simple elegance AND vintage drama. Love it!

You’ve got your flowers, invitations, bridesmaids dresses, makeup….everything in your perfect wedding colour. But what about the shoes? If you can’t find shoes in your wedding colour, dye them yourself! You can buy shoes from wedding shops that are beautiful and elegant, and you can customize to your own colour (like this awesome green!).
