We really loved the fun red balloons Stephanie added into a few of her wedding photographs! Adding something different in your wedding colour can definitely be cool and add another element to a few photographs!

Who says you have to make your engagement official with a ring? Patrick sealed the deal with Leah when he presented her with something she really wanted for the two of them: a kayak! And with their ceremony being lakeside, they made sure to bring the kayak for some wedding day photos.
A great way to add some fun and personality into your wedding photos is to bring along a few props! These guys brought funny glasses and it made for some hilarious and fun images. It cheap, easy, and a great way to get some unique wedding images! Plus, your bridal party will have a lot of fun acting a bit goofy!

As most of you know, the Hotel MacDonald has a reputation for being one of the most elegant and high class wedding venues in the city. That repuation is well-deserved. The hotel has an amazing atmosphere, wonderful food, and beautiful decor.

Snowy night - photo by Buffy Goodman
Sunil and Shobna were a little worried when, during the short window of time they’d set aside for “formal” photos together during their event-filled, multi-day wedding, it just happened to be snowing big time!!! As they say, you never know what mother nature’s gonna hand you in Alberta!
Although they were apprehensive at first, as their photographer, I was overjoyed! It’s so important to fully trust your photographer to make good on a “bad weather” situation – Some things are out of everyone’s control, and your photographer should be excited about making great photos for you despite the challenge!

Casual Gangsta's - image by Trident Photography
I like to make some images where the bridal party gets to pose all casual, like a bunch of tough guys against the wall. These are taken mid-day, but with the use of enough light and a high sych speed, it makes it look more like the evening than the daytime.

Not every day is full of sun, and if a cloudy day happens to fall on your wedding day, please don’t stress! Cloudy days are perfect for creating dramatic portraits. With some creative lighting, your photographs can be stunning! No photographer has such a great chance to control their own lighting wherever they wish than when the clouds come out.

I had the privilege of spending the better part of a week celebrating this wedding. It was awesome! This bride actually went all the way to India to pick up this stunning ten pound dress for the wedding. I gotta say, it rocked! The beading on it caught the light and shimmered and she looked stunning. The traditional outfits were sooooo beautiful, however, it was all the food, ceremonies, family and friends that made this wedding so much fun! If you have a rich culture to draw on, why not? It will only make your day more memorable and your photos that much more dramatic!

Sometimes for the photographer, getting from the initial capture of a wedding day image, to the finished artwork, is an interesting process. In this case, a long story on paper, happened in a wink of an eye in my head: Andrea’s wedding day colours and theme were inspired by the little blue Tiffany boxes that her engagement ring and wedding band came in. The store Tiffanys reminded me of the movie ‘Breakfast at Tiffanys’. Which reminded me of the star Audrey Hepburn. Which reminded me of a popular piece of art featuring a black and white ‘outline’ of Audrey. Which inspired the final portrait of Andrea.
When picking out a suit or tux to wear on the big day, consider other shades than black! One of my favourite groom’s outfits this year was this tan suit. It gave a classic soft feel to the day, and looks just amazing in the photos! Light gray is another fantastic option!

Please, please rent chair covers. They are absolutely worth it! They add ambiance to your reception that might not be there otherwise, and it’s a great way to incorporate your wedding colours into your reception.

Kilts by Pink Sugar Photography
A kilt can be a great way to celebrate one’s roots. I particularly loved that all of the boys at Adrianne and Curtis’s recent wedding dressed to represent the groom’s Scottish heritage.

It’s a great idea to hire a professional makeup artist for your big day. It will take some of the pressure out of your day during this relaxing time. And you’re sure to get a great look for the day!
Wishing you happiness, joy, and laughter!

Many wedding photographs take place with beautiful architecture and green backdrops, water fountains, etc. That’s why it was surprising to us to fall so in love with this photograph, taken in a parking lot stairwell. We love the expressions, the simplicity, the contrast of the dressy clothing and the grungy backdrop.
We find it is not so much the backdrop, but the expressions between the couple and the connection that makes as photograph rock!

wedding rings photo by Stephanie Cragg
Our bride & groom had a deep love for the outdoors, and the mountains, and wanted that reflected in their choice of wedding bands. They ended up deciding that custom rings was the way to go and had these bands created exclusively for them, in Canmore, Alberta.
