Dennis and Grace at the Basilica by Buffy Goodman Photography
The Basilica downtown is one of the most beautiful and sought-after church venues in Edmonton… and there’s good reason. Amazing light, great architecture, and the cavernous amounts of space create incredible atmosphere for your ceremony. And hockey fans take note – Wayne Gretzky was married here!
This is the “classic shot” at the Basilica, taken from the upper balcony – one of those wedding must-haves.

It’s not very easy nor does it happen often, where you can get permission to have wedding photos done on the roof of a downtown building…. but you’ll never know unless you ask!

A great way to personalize your wedding is to have a custom monogram made with your initials. You can carry the theme through your invitations, programs, cake, thank you cards etc…

Huge Wedding Veil - Captue by Trident Photography
I love a good veil, but I really love a great veil! This one was nice and long and inspired the image shown here. The big billowing veil gives a very surreal look to this image.

Abstract Ring Shot - Picture That Photography
One thing that we as photographers learn in creative design is a thing called “abstract photographs”. Abstract photographs are very similar to abstract paintings in that you can’t necessarily tell what the photograph is about, and the photograph mainly consists of lines, shapes, colors, etc. We love creating some of these unique images every wedding!

Classic Church Photo by Night and Day Photography
I love the classic black and white wedding photos with the couple in front of an old stone church that you see in family albums from years past. That’s why I’m always delighted when brides and grooms pick these great old churches to get married in. Usually, they have also picked a venue to take photos at – but – taking just a couple of minutes to take a photo in front of the church always turns out awesome!
This church is the beautiful St. Joachim church in central Edmonton. I’ve always wanted to shoot a wedding here and I was NOT disappointed at all. Not only is the outside fantastic, the priest was fun, the stained glass was awesome, it had lots of parking, and the roof… the roof is spectacular from the inside. I totally recommend it! It’s a great Edmonton Venue for a ceremony – particularly if your looking for a catholic wedding. Just don’t miss out on a photo outside the church before you take off after the ceremony.

One of the most meaningful Sand Ceremonies that I’ve witnessed at an Edmonton wedding, was one where the Bride & Groom had 6 children already, between the two of them. Along with the couple, each child also had their own vial of coloured sand to add to the vase. It was wonderful to watch!

Melissa & Sean made a nod to their Ukranian heritage with a fun reception game: pin the Kubasa on the Perogy! I think this guy might be out of the running…

Justin and Cheryl - Photography by Buffy Goodman
This is the pub where Cheryl and Justin first met, the very table they sat at that fateful night! Awww!
Revisiting a special place that holds meaning during your wedding photo session adds that special something – this is a photo with an awesome story you can tell your grandkids!
Cheryl and Justin didn’t have the time on their wedding day to make it to this pub for photos, but if you’re into this idea, just ask your wedding photographer if they offer “day after” sessions. Without the added scheduling pressures of the wedding day, your photographer and you can make some awesome memories come alive.

Train Tracks - by Picture That Photography
An interesting backdrop for a few photographs is train tracks! We love the moody feel they can create and add to photographs. If you want to sit on the tracks, we recommend bringing some white garbage bags to put underneath your dress.

You just cant go wrong with the scenery and grounds, at the Devonian Gardens. This picturesque location can be booked for your ceremony, but they also take bookings just for wedding party portrait sessions too.

Great Mezzanine - Image by Trident Photogrpahy
This is a great location in the hotel near the Millenium Place in Sherwood Park. It used to be the Best Western, but I don’t remember what it is called now. The huge chandelier makes for a nice background from the mezzanine level.
