Rorik & Julia had a unique and subtle theme for their wedding reception: puzzles! Their fun centrepieces, menus, and even the cake all incorporated mind puzzles and visual tricks.

Adding Depth with Reflections - Trident Photography

Adding Depth with Reflections - Trident Photography

No, I am not talking about taking a look back upon your life here. I am talking about the phenomenon of light reflecting off a glossy surface, and how to best use that to your benefit. In this image, I used the reflection to include subjects in the photo that would otherwise be impossible. It gives a unique and interesting look.

It’s All A Blur

The Carousel - by Picture That Photography

The Carousel - by Picture That Photography

One thing that we love doing for one or two pictures each wedding is creating a scene where some of the images are a blur while the couple is sharp!  With the risk of sounding cheesy, I’ll just say it: I love what it says about most couples’ wedding day, that it goes by so quickly, but the love remains :) .

Great Place for a BIG BIG BIG wedding

Greeting the Bridegroom in the lobby of the Marriott - photo by Night and Day Photography

Greeting the Bridegroom in the lobby of the Marriott - photo by Night and Day Photography

Few places can boast the facility that the Marriott at the River Cree Resort and Casino can. This place is new, modern, beautiful and can accommodate anything you need.  You can have an open fire, you can take over the lobby, the parking lot, and have one great party for your wedding.   This photo was taken as the brides family waited to greet the grooms family.   It was an awesome party, the food was fantastic,  the ceremony room was quickly turned over into a part of the banquet hall while the guests had cocktails  in the foyer.  The Marriott really does and outstanding job!

I love purple! It’s one of those colours that really gives punch to accessories and decorations on a wedding day!

It’s tradition at East Indian weddings for relatives and friends with special talents to perform for the guests. Why not incorporate this fun tradition into your wedding? A dance performance can liven up any wedding reception.

Locations That Show Personality!

In a Movie Theatre - by Picture That Photography

In a Movie Theatre - by Picture That Photography

Why always take your photos at the same boring locations everyone else does?  If you are a movie lover, why not take some photographs in the theatre?  That is what Erin and Matt did, and we loved the result!

A quietly-romantic and intimate portrait of you and your groom can be made literally anywhere on your wedding day, when you have a professional Edmonton wedding photographer on board. He/she/they will know how to put all the elements together :) This one was made while I was shooting on behalf of CU Photography, for Nikkiey & Jeff’s wedding.

There’s no better time for the groom to grab a photo with all of his best friends than at the reception. After dinner (and perhaps a few drinks?) all the buddies will be more than willing to pose for the camera.

Personal Touches - photo by Night and Day Photography

Adding some personal touches to your wedding can make everything more special.   There are many ways to personalize your bouquet that go beyond specific flower type or colour.  Why not add a special family heirloom like a  broach to a ribbon hanging off the bouquet,  or wrap a locket with a photo of a  person whose memory is special to you around the stems?  Something as simple as the bride and grooms initials into the bouquet can give you something truly unique and personal.

Cloudy Days call for Dramatic Light

Dramatic Light - image by Trident Photography

I love a clear sunny day, but what do you do when it is overcast and grey? Make the light more dramatic! That is exactly what I did in this image of Kyle and Nassira when we shot their formals.

The Muttart Conservatory

At the Muttart - by Picture That Photography

The Muttart Conservatory is a beautiful place full of various plants from many different climates.  Each pyramid holds something different, so you can actually have cacti in one photograph, and lush forest in another!  Maurie & Allan chose the Muttart as they wanted to have some beautiful green photographs in the middle of their winter wedding!

We recommend this place to couples with small bridal parties, or wishing for photographs of just themselves.  It works wonderful for small groups!
