"To the Library!" - by Picture That Photography

"To the Library!" - by Picture That Photography

At Jenn and Jason’s wedding we decided to do some photographs in a library!  Jenn is a teacher, and the place was a great backdrop for a few photographs because of this.  Jenn loved this photograph the most because the place we took the image in held a special meaning to her.  We definitely recommend you choose a place that has meaning to you.  No matter where the place is, your Edmonton wedding photographer should be able to incorporate it in a few photographs!

Color is what its all about… choose your favorite color, then ask your wedding photographer to find a backdrop in that color!  We loved this yellow building as a backdrop for some of Jennifer and Jason’s wedding photos!

Indoor photos for your wedding can be a creative way of making the most of the weather. A little rain doesn’t hurt when you are indoors with the one you love.

Remote Lighting for Studio Feel - Trident Photography

Remote Lighting for Studio Feel - Trident Photography

Add a little colour to your day. Just because you are in a bedroom doesn’t mean you can’t get that studio feel. A couple of remote lights can turn drab to fab when looking at your photos.

Keeping Dry and Getting a Great Shot in the Rain

Keeping Dry and Getting a Great Shot in the Rain - photo by Night and Day Photography

If you are looking for a photo location in Stony Plain or near Spruce Grove, the Rotary Park in Stony Plain is a great place!  It has quite a bit there for photos. There is a gazebo, bridge, paths, trees, great green space, a pond, this building AND a railway track complete with a couple cars.  It’s awesome!  We were really impressed with the variety when we shot this wedding in Spruce Grove last year.  It’s worth a look if you are planning a wedding in the area.

Jasper Wedding

Monday, June 14th, 2010

If you were thinking of getting married in the mountains, then Jasper may be the place to do it. I was at a wedding in Pyramid Lake, which is just right outside of Jasper and I was awestruck by the location on Pyramid Island. There is an outdoor space where you can have the ceremony that has a beautiful backdrop of the mountains and the lake. I’m not going to post a photo, since it was completely overcast and raining when I was there, but trust me this place looks amazing.

Long exposure - Trident Photography

Long exposure - Trident Photography

During a recent engagement session I had the couple hold still for me on the corner while I shot a slow shutter speed to allow the cars in the background to leave light trails. This one turned out really neat with the front and rear lights leaving a tiny gap right at their heads.

Wedding photos at Ram River Falls Kananaskis

Wedding photos at Ram River Falls Kananaskis

Why not hang out at one of your favourite places on your wedding day and have your photos done there?  That’s what this bride and groom did.  Their wedding took place earlier in the day, reception was actually a late lunch which was amazing and hosted at their favourite restaurant.  That allowed them to spend the rest of the day, just the two of them taking photos in their favourite park:  Ram River Falls in Kanananskis, and they had the evening to them selves.  It was awesome and no one else will have photos like they do!

Getting Ready for the Big Day! - photo by Night and Day Photo

Getting Ready for the Big Day! - photo by Night and Day Photo

Ah April, spring time.  Seasons of tulips, daffodils, birdies, and blossoms, right?  Well, if you are planning a wedding in Edmonton, you had better be ready for it to be perfect spring, or hard core winter.  It seems at least one wedding in April a year will be snowed out.  Case in point, the storm yesterday!

This photo is from a fabulous April wedding, filled with fun, laughs and good times.  It just also happened to include snow, slush, and wet puddles hidden under snow.  So I guess what I’m trying to say is April weddings can be sun or snow… be prepared.  Pack umbrellas, and you might want to wear boots under that dress for getting around between sites… OR have your groom wear boots and use it as an excuse to have him carry you everywhere!  (  :  Either way you go, be sure to have lots of fun.

Great Place for a BIG BIG BIG wedding

Greeting the Bridegroom in the lobby of the Marriott - photo by Night and Day Photography

Few places can boast the facility that the Marriott at the River Cree Resort and Casino can. This place is new, modern, beautiful and can accommodate anything you need.  You can have an open fire, you can take over the lobby, the parking lot, and have one great party for your wedding.   This photo was taken as the brides family waited to greet the grooms family.   It was an awesome party, the food was fantastic,  the ceremony room was quickly turned over into a part of the banquet hall while the guests had cocktails  in the foyer.  The Marriott really does and outstanding job!

At the Muttart - by Picture That Photography

The Muttart Conservatory is a beautiful place full of various plants from many different climates.  Each pyramid holds something different, so you can actually have cacti in one photograph, and lush forest in another!  Maurie & Allan chose the Muttart as they wanted to have some beautiful green photographs in the middle of their winter wedding!

We recommend this place to couples with small bridal parties, or wishing for photographs of just themselves.  It works wonderful for small groups!
