"To the Library!" - by Picture That Photography

"To the Library!" - by Picture That Photography

At Jenn and Jason’s wedding we decided to do some photographs in a library!  Jenn is a teacher, and the place was a great backdrop for a few photographs because of this.  Jenn loved this photograph the most because the place we took the image in held a special meaning to her.  We definitely recommend you choose a place that has meaning to you.  No matter where the place is, your Edmonton wedding photographer should be able to incorporate it in a few photographs!

Another Cool Custom Cake!

Make your Cake reflect YOU - photo by night and day photography

Make your Cake reflect YOU - photo by night and day photography

If you knew the bride and groom who had this wedding cake you wouldn’t have any questions as to WHOSE cake this was!

This couple has a geeky past, including video games, university level math, engineering jobs, and a high class taste for fashion. So, this cake was the perfect tribute to the bride and groom.

The bottom layer of math symbols to represent their geekiness, the middle layer to match the beautiful pattern on their bridesmaid’s satin dresses, the top layer as a tribute to their cute dog “Muffin,” and the toppers, well, isn’t that obvious?  I just want to take a bite out of the Pac-Man cookies!

The cake was delicious too!

Night Romance - by Picture That Photography

Night Romance - by Picture That Photography

Want a different feel to your wedding photographs?  Do them at night!  Night offers a different feel, different colors and a sort of calm you don’t experience during the day.  Plus, not a lot of couples have wedding photos done at night time!

Favour & Rings by Stephanie Cragg

I love seeing reception favours given to the guests, that are really useful! These wine bottle stoppers were terrific! Male guests received the ‘kings crown’ and female guests received the ‘queens crown’! (and they made an awesome spot to place the rings for a close-up photo!)

Run down farm - by Picture That Photography

We loved photographing at this run down farm location earlier this summer.  The new relationship against a backdrop that was old and falling apart added to the beauty of our photographs of Audrey and Kent during their Edmonton session.

Sitting back and watching the clouds roll by - photo by Night and Day Photography

The wedding day is a busy day, and with all the family and friends in for the occasion, it can be a bit crazy.  I love taking the bride and groom away from it all for a few minutes and letting them sit back and relax together while I take photos from so far away, they often don’t know I’m there.    It gives them a well chance to be alone on their wedding day, and it makes for some nice photos.

Simple is Beautiful - by Picture That Photography

We loved this plain (almost one-color) backdrop we found for Jocelyn and Joshua’s wedding last year!  Sometimes something neutral or colorless is an awesome backdrop!  It really brings the viewer’s attention right into the couple and makes them pop!

One of my most favourite wedding details is when a hot wax stamp is used on the invitations. You can find do-it-yourself kits at craft and paper stores, or the company that is designing your invites should be able to help you too.

Wedgewood Room - by Picture That Photography

One of our favorite places in Edmonton for ceremonies and receptions alike is the Hotel MacDonald.  It has such a classic look and the food is amazing!  This photograph is taken in the Wedgewood Room at Mary and Dave’s wedding back in 2008!

Hanging out in the Back Alley - photo by Night and Day Photography

Hanging out in the Back Alley - photo by Night and Day Photography

Gone are the days when people regularly paid hundreds of dollars to have photos taken in a garden.  Yes, people still do, but not like they used to.  Photo locations can be found anywhere you care to look.  Of course, it’s nice to have a scenic backdrop, but with all the amazing things you can do with lighting it’s nice to take a break from the typical scenery and take some edgier photos as well.  This photo was taken in a back alley in Canmore and makes for some nice variety from the rest of the spectacular mountain vista shots of the day.   Why not have both anyways?

Looking In - By Picture That Photography

Looking In - By Picture That Photography

One of my favorite photographs from this wedding is this one… taken from outside the building through the window.  I love the feeling in it, of an observer or passerby catching a glimpse of the wedding as they walk by.
